LA is a Brooklyn-based, disabled, and queer artist who’s been creating art since they were a child.  ​In their personal work, LA focuses on the evolving relationship between their body and identity. As someone who has become recently disabled, they understand how easy it is to feel betrayed by a body that no longer behaves the way it once did. LA explores this tension through self‑portraiture and original characters, drawing on themes of horror, past trauma, moments of whimsy, and radical compassion.

 

They also create illustrations rooted in figure drawing, still lifes, and everyday objects, approaching each piece as part of an ongoing effort to understand and inhabit themselves more fully.​

Alongside this personal work, they also create client‑focused illustrations, including pet portraits and character commissions.

They've exhibited and vended their art in galleries and venues from New York City to Montreal, Canada.
